This tutorial will show you how you can add comments to your photographs.
1) Open the photo that you want to add the tape to
2) Now we want to make sure that it is the right color mode to work on so goto the top menu
and select "Image > Mode > RGB Color"
3) Now create a new layer for our "tape" to be on.
4) Select the new layer in the "Layer Panel" and grab the rectangle marquee tool
5) Draw a rectangle on the new layer the size you want the tape to be, like so:
6) Change the foreground color to "E7E1B9" by clicking on the top color in the "Tools Panel"
and then pasting that color into the box next to "#"
7) Now grab the paint bucket
![]()
and fill in the area you have highlighted on the stage by clicking in the rectangle
[Break= Steps 8 - 12]
8) We will now add the edges to make it look like it has been torn. First deselect the rectangle
and grab the "Eraser Tool"
now set the "Mode:" to "Brush"
and the size of the brush to "10"
9) Now erase the left edge and the right edge so as to make it look ragged like so:
10) To give it even more detail set the opacity on the eraser to "25%"
and erase parts of the edges again, just a little bit not the whole edge
11) Now we need to add the layer effects, goto the top menu
and then goto "Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options..."
now add an "Inner Glow" and set all the settings to match these:
then add a "Pattern Overlay"
the pattern I used is from the pattern set called "Texture Fill"
If that doesn't appear in your list you will have to load it by going to "Load Patterns..." and find "Texture Fill.pat"
select the last pattern on the first row
You should now have it look like masking tape
12) Set the "Opacity" of the tape layer to "90%"
[Break= Steps 13 - 15]
13) Now add the text you want on the masking tape
14) Now if you want you can rotate the tape a little to make it look more realistic. But first we must link the text to the tape so when we rotate one it will rotate both. Select the layer with the text from the "Layers Panel" then click box next to the eye on the tape layer in the "Layers Panel" so that a chain appears.
15) Next select the "Move Tool"
move the cursor over the top right corner until it turns into a curved arrow. Click then drag so it rotates.
You will notice both the text and the tape rotate at the same time
And you are done!!!
