    [TUT] - Valentine Heart

    Valentine Heart

    Level:

    Author:
    *CONTAGEN*

    Ok in this tutorial i'm going to show you how to create
    a simple but beautiful valentine heart.

    Creating the heart base

    -------------------------

    Open a new document 200x200

    [Break= Steps 1 & 2]
    1. Create a new layer, name is 'Heartbase'.

    2. Now we are going to choose the color of the heart.
    So on your tools palette click on the Foreground color
    thumbnail

    and used this shade of red #cf0303.
    [Break= Steps 3 & 4]
    3. select the custom shape tool

    Make sure the settings are as follows :

    click on the little arrow circled in the image above and
    choose the heart shape.

    4. On the top menu go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options

    and use the following settings:

    DropShadow

    InnerGlow

    Bevel&Emboss

    You should now have a heart similar to this :

    Creating the heart shine
    --------------------------
    [Break= Steps 5 -7]
    5. Create a new layer, name is 'Heartshine'.

    6. Hold Ctrl and click once on the 'Heartbase' layer
    doing this will select the heart:

    7. Select the paint bucket tool:

    and with the 'Heartshine' layer selected in your
    layers palette fill the heart selection with colour.

    Now deselect :

    [Break= Steps 8 & 9]
    8. On the layers palette reduce the Fill of the 'Heartshine'
    to 0% :

    9. On the top menu go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options

    and use the following settings:

    DropShadow

    InnerShadow

    Bevel&Emboss

    Satin

    [Break= Step 10]
    10. Create a new layer, name is 'GradReflex'.

    Select the Gradient tool :

    Make sure the settings are as follows and click on the
    gradient thumbnail :

    The gradient editor window will now open :

    Both arrows circled in red should be white and the arrow circled in
    green should have the opacity set to 0.

    Now roughly in the position were you want your reflex to be
    holding the shift key draw a small gradient like so :

    You can use the move tool to move it in to postion if need be and also
    lower the opacity slightly.

    You should now have a heart similar to this :

    [Break= Steps 11 - 14]
    Creating the arrow
    -------------------------

    11. Create a new layer name it 'arrow'

    12. Make the foreground color of the arrow
    black #000000

    13. Select the custom shape tool again,
    select the shape named 'arrow 3'.

    If it's not there click on the small arrow and
    load the file called all shapes.

    14. Now were going to have to move the arrow into
    position. On the top menu go to Edit > Transform > Rotate.
    Just rotate it enough so you get it to the proper angle
    like so :

    You can also select the Move tool to put
    it into position, like i did in the image above :

    [Break= Steps 15 - 17]
    15. Now as you can see the arrow may be a bit short
    so go to Edit > Transform > Scale.While holding the
    shift key scale it to size :

    16. Select the Eraser tool :

    and using brush 'Master Diameter 35px', 'Hardness 0%'
    Delete the centre part of the arrow :

    17. On the top menu go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options

    and use the following settings:

    DropShadow

    InnerShadow

    [Break= Final]
    You should now have a pretty Valentine Heart :

    Happy Psing

    Thank you very much for the tutorial!

    Here is my result. For some reason my shine effect does not look same even though settings are exact. But still a cute heart!
