    [TUT] Chrome - The Corrosive Way

    Chrome

    Level:

    Author: Corrosive

    Learn how to create a chrome effect like this

    Welcome to the Chrome tutorial - The Corrosive Way
    I had a lot of requests come in about making this tutorial.
    It took me a very long time to put this together, so i hope
    it gets appreciated.Well, Fire up ye olde Photoshop and lets
    start making chrome sigs.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To start things off, This tutorial requires the mastery of
    the "Pen" tool, so if you have no idea how to use it, I
    guess try using marquees or something.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Lets Begin:
    [Break= Steps 1 -5]
    Step 1 ->
    Open up a new document, I used 500x500.

    Step 2 ->
    Using the "Pen" tool (Path Mode), draw the left half of your
    shape.

    [ >> click here for a tutorial on how to use the pen tool << ]

    Step 3 ->
    Change your foreground color to a medium grey
    (Around #808080), and with the pen tool, right click on the
    canvas. Select "Fill Path" and press "ok". On your keyboard
    press "Delete" twice to delete the "Pen" path.

    Step 4 ->
    Press Ctrl+J (duplicate), then, Ctrl+T - right click and
    select "Flip Horizontal". Move the new shape to the other
    side of the canvas like in the picture below.

    Step 5 ->
    Press Ctrl+E to merge the two layers down and then open up
    the blending options.

    [Break= Step 6]
    Step 6 ->
    Carefully look over change all of the settings just like
    they appear in the pictures below:

    Drop Shadow

    Inner Shadow

    Inner Glow

    Bevel and Emboss

    Satin

    Gradient Overlay

    Stroke

    [Break= Steps 7 - 9]
    Step 7 ->
    Here is what I got as a result of that:

    Step 8 ->
    Try experimenting with different shapes and see what you get.
    Here are a few examples:

    Step 9 ->
    Add more shapes to the layers above and below the shape you
    created, and apply different blending options to them. Here
    is my final result for the shape I started off with:

    Final Touches->
    If your shape has some parts that are too dark in some parts and you dont like that, just cut them out using the pen tool, and on a layer under fill it with your theme color, or apply a glossy style .

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Thats it, youre done. Now you know the secret behind my
    swirly chrome series. Enjoy!!!
